She drew a lot of attention to herself at the Czech Lion Awards, where she appeared in a huge fluffy robe, whose monstrosity forced her to leave the auditorium and go to the restaurant across the Rudolfinum. Jitka Nováčková wore one of her models at the opening of the MBPFW, and it was also at the Prague Fashion Week where she charmed everyone with her luxurious FW19 collection. This is most certainly not the last we’ve heard of the eccentric Slovak designer Vanda Janda!
Her fashion is faultlessly playful and goes beyond all the customary conventions we so often encounter in the Czech fashion scene. She’s not afraid to go out on a limb and reach for large volumes of the material favored by world-famous giants such as Giambattista Valli or Viktor & Rolf - fluffy tulle!
We’ll let you be the judges of how the Slovak designer’s own model from the FW 19 collection becomes her. Yes, that’s right, she also appeared on the catwalk as one of the models. Imaginative tulle hats and luxurious dresses with long trails and deep décolletages are not the only things Vanda Janda dazzled us with in the Prague Kotva.
The FW19 collection is rich in animal designs, chic fringes, metallic silver and sensual dresses and coats with garter applications. A similarly dazzling piece was worn by Jitka Nováčková for the opening of the MBPFW.
Among the celebrities who couldn’t miss out on the fashion show of Vanda Janda were the brothers Kraus, Jitka Nováčková, Nikol Moravcová or Adam Mišík. The creative designer received great applause for her work and we’re looking forward to her becoming part of the next MBPFW. That’s an enrichment we wouldn’t want to do without!
Plus, she used music from my personal playlist that I listen to in my car while doing so! Vanda Janda is a woman who is not afraid of anything and always goes full throttle. So much energy, creativity and enthusiasm in one place! Quite a shocker in the parade of wannabe artistry in the form of phosphorous raincoats, or hundreds of weird suits we’ve seen a hundred times in all variations possible.
My absolute top choice is the sweet pink velvet charleston dress decorated with rhinestones and ostrich feathers complemented by luxurious feathered pumps and a giant tulle hat. It totally knocked me off my feet! And although personally, I’m 181 cm tall, which means I’d be like three meters with this fantail, I don't give a damn. Give me, give me, give me!
The next hit, this time directly in the bull’s eye, is another velvet dress - a black one for a change, with long sleeves and a skirt pinned to the stockings with garters. Again, it is a piece that I wouldn’t hesitate to wear, even for a night out in the bustling Prague. And that sexy mesh over the face... Do I really need to say more? BRAVO!
