Pilar Coin, wife and the greatest inspiration of Roberto Coin, visited the Prague Polo Cup at the Levín farm. Our editorial staff was there and had the honor to confess this nice and elegant lady. What jewelery and fashion brands does she like? What does she love in Prague? And what benefits and disadvantages caries the family bussiness?
What do you think is the more appropriate dress code for polo and why?
Oh my God, you are asking me something… I see so many beautiful women, who adhered to the dress code; I think polo is a little bit like Ascot, or Chantilly, in France, you have to dress a little crazy, colourfully, with hats. I think the best way for everyone is to dress the way they feel good; I don´t have a hat for instance, because I don´t look well in a hat.
Okay, thank you. I would also like to ask about how do you like the atmosphere this year at Prague Polo Cup?
Well, I think Nina is really doing a great job, and every year she has something different, although it is always in the style of Polo Cup, but she has these things that make the difference. I love this place, too, I hope that she is going to be happy and everybody´s happy about that.
Thank you. What is your favourite piece in the current collection of Roberto Coin, and which piece would you pick for this event today?
Well, that is easy, I like my Obelisco earrings; they are from the new collection and I thought it would go well with polo, because they are very geometric, and I hope everybody likes them.
Thank you. We also like your ring a lot. Is there some romantic story and on which occasion did you get it? Maybe from your husband…
You know, this ring is part of our Colour stone collection, we have this collection, which has all the different colours of stones, and I really love this combination, light and dark blue, and actually, I got it myself, from the shop. When I like something, I just take it. And my husband is only for very special pieces, but being in the business, I have to keep changing, and this one I´ve actually had for a long time, because I am attached to it.
Thank you. What is the best thing about being a part of a family business?
The best? There are the ´best´ things and the less so. The best thing is that it is your lifestyle, it is not a business any more, because you work all the time, it´s part of your life. So it can be good, sometimes I am a bit over-stressed, because we work weekends, we work during the holidays, it is always about business. But you know, you have so many other things, that compensate for that. So, I am happy to work with my husband.
Also, we would like to know what are your favourite brands, I see that you are wearing Missoni and Balenciaga, so, what else do you like?
I like to have a couple of pieces from everybody, I don´t have a real favourite one. When I feel good I wear Dior, I love Chanel blazers and bags from everybody, I am a lover of bags, so I like mostly accessories, bags and shoes, so I like to change it, it depends on the day, the mood…but I like to change it.
What do you like the most about the Czech Republic? And what surprised you the most when you came to this country for the first time?
Do you know what I am in love with Prague and I feel really at home here, but I remember the first time, it was like eighteen years ago, and it has changed so much, but in a nice sort of way, Pařížská Street, there were no brands at all, now it is full of important brands, but in a nice way, it is the right sort of combination, of the Czech and international brands and you know what I like when I walk in the streets in Prague, I can hear music from the windows, people are playing the piano, other sort of instruments, it´s a very sort of sophisticated and cultural city, I think. Because even the taxi driver, he speaks to you about the theatre, about music, about the sort of thing you won´t find easily in other countries. So, I like this side of Prague.
Thank you very much, have a great time day.
Thank you, it´s my pleasure.
