Early Bird: Wages in the Czech Republic decreased. Changes in the Premier League. Late actor Boseman broke a historical record
The Early Bird wish you a beautiful Friday. This week, it bids you farewell with the following news!
The average wage in the Czech Republic decreased
According to the Czech Statistical Office, in Q2 2020 the average gross monthly nominal wage per recalculated number of employees in the national economy increased by 0.5% compared to the same period of the previous year, and then decreased by 2.5% in real terms. The median wage was CZK 29,123.
"The overall half-percent increase in the average wage reflects a very diverse development by industry and the extent to which it is affected by the coronavirus crisis. The most significant decline was in accommodation, food and beverage service activities, where wages decreased by 11.8%. In the manufacturing industry, where almost 1.1 million people are employed, the average wage decreased by 4.9%. By contrast, wages in health and social care and education increased by an average of 5.5%,
said Dalibor Holý, Director of the Labor Market and Equal Opportunities Statistics Department of the CZSO.
The search for the lost ship in Japan continues
A ship carrying more than 40 crew members and 5,800 cows disappeared off the coast of Japan after capsizing in the East China Sea. The area was plagued by a powerful typhoon at the time the ship disappeared, corresponding to a Category 4 hurricane with a wind force of at least 209 km per hour. The only survivor to date is a Filipino sailor, discovered by the patrol in good health after more than half a day in the dark waters of the Pacific Ocean.
The ship was sailing from New Zealand to China, and the enormous tragedy also caused a wave of resentment among animal rights activists.
"These cows should never have been at sea. To make matters worse, they are probably all pregnant,"
said Marianne Macdonald, head of the SAFE NZ animal rights campaign.
China without football: The English Premier League terminated the contract
With immediate effect, the Premier League terminated a nearly $17 billion contract with a Chinese licensee, the PPTV streaming service. Despite the fact that China was the most lucrative overseas client, and the three-year agreement had come into force only last year.
So far, the Premier League has barely dropped a word. They posted a simple statement on Twitter:
"The Premier League confirms that it has today terminated its agreements for #PL coverage in China with its licensee in that territory. The #PL will not be commenting further on the matter at this stage."
SpaceX performed another spacecraft flight test
Billionaire Elon Musk's company has taken another step forward in developing its next-generation rocket Starship and conducted a second short flight test of the prototype in the last month. The starship prototype with serial number 6, also known as SN6, took off from the SpaceX launch pad in Boca Chica, Texas and flew about 500 feet above the ground before returning. The flight test appeared to be identical to the SpaceX test performed on the SN5 prototype on August 5.
Chadwick Boseman: King of Twitter
The late actor Chadwick Boseman broke a sad record. The announcement about his passing broke the historical record in the number of likes on Twitter.
