And it is here, one of the most anticipated events of the year, the amazing International Film Festival in Cannes, is just under way! It not only represents a show "overview" of great and interesting movies, but especially of beautiful ladies and luxurious gowns. These are dresses that simply must be a dream of perhaps every woman. Which star of the red carpet was the most charming one?
Every designer is beside himself with joy, if some well-known celebrity requests a bespoke luxurious dress. Such gowns are often daring, beautifully decorated, wild and of course always exceptional. Let us look at the most beautiful dresses worn on the red carpet by Amber Heard, Penélope Cruz, Kristen Stewart, Cate Blanchett, Chloe Sevigny and other beautiful women.
The Russian model with the body of a goddess showcased a sexy red dress by Versace and we must say that this mummy does not exactly lack courage! She looked wonderful!
One of the most beautiful and most charismatic actresses, Penélope Cruz, wore to the red carpet a beautiful black dress from Chanel haute couture with lace and fine feathers. Although she always looks irresistible, this year she shone like a wonderful diamond. Indeed Penélope, matures like wine and is more beautiful from one year another.
Kristen Stewart has incredible charm that was further accentuated by the beautiful and luxurious gown from the workshop of Chanel Couture. Elegant, smokey make-up and interesting ruched detail on the dress was complemented by strappy high hells by Giuseppe Zanotti which belong among the most popular women's shoes brands. Although not every woman would suit this look, it suited her to perfection.
The beautiful actress and president of the festival jury, Cate Blanchett has already appeared at the festival in a perfect black dress, which she has already worn on the red carpet in the past. It is obvious that she knows how to choose and the dress from the workshop of Armani Privé was an ideal, timeless choice. No actress wants to wear the same dress to such events, but Cate provided a perfect explanation. She likes to be considerate to fashion and our planet.
American actress Sevigny appeared on the red carpet in Cannes in a very interesting, unique and luxurious dress. Her appearance resembled a mermaid and we must say that unfortunately the dress didn´t really fit. The next time round she should make a better choice.
Beautiful actress Deepika Padukone wore to the opening night a luxury lace dress by designer Zuhair Murad loved by perhaps all women throughout the world. The dress suited the olive-skinned beauty to perfection, highlighting her beautiful complexion. It is little wonder that she reaped admiring looks of all men!
Fragile blond with roughish soul wore to the opening of the film festival a beautiful and slightly daring dress from the Valentino workshop. However, she had to guard the green exposed top, lest it revealed something that she did not intent to. However the flowery skirt fitted her perfectly.
The 71. year of the film festival is currently in full swing in Cannes, offering as it does the best films and at the same time inviting the most vibrant stars of the silver screen. This year is no different and therefore right from the outset we will look at the opening evening with Fashion Against the Tide!
Russian super model arrived at the festival opening in deep red dress by Versace, and did so completely without underwear. It is a super woman feat for a mother of a small child (approximately 7 months old). What must be also said here is that this evening she looked very fresh indeed, despite the fact that only one evening before this event she was present at the Met Gala. Dressed, what else, again in a gown by Versace. For her loyalty to Donatella and sense for sexual tension, Irina deserves a decent score.

One of the greatest stars of the evening, Penélope Cruz arrived to the opening ceremony together with her husband, Javier Bard, where that evening the film "Everybody Knows” was being shown. They both appear in the film... However, let´s go back to the dress. Penélope put on a black gown from Chanel haute couture workshop. That fitted her like a glove, thus perfectly highlighting her sexy curves of which this actress can certainly boast. I loved the ruby-red Swarovski crystal earrings that pleasantly revived the great quantities of black.
Dress: 80 % Make-up and hair: 90 % (grand gala events really do not require the hair to be put in a bun!)
For me forever Bella (Twilight)...Kristen arrived at the opening ceremony in a black dress by Chanel from the collection Fall/Winter 2018 and in strappy high heels by Giuseppe Zanotti. The ageing brooch and the pleated cut of the dress made quite an unhappy impression. In addition the terrible hairdo which perfectly resembles John Travolta in the role of Danny in Grease. Gosh what was this girl thinking...

The honorary president of the festival jury, Cate Blanchett, wore a perfectly sophisticated black gown in which she has already appeared on the red carpet in the past. She has already worn the gown from the Armani Privé workshop (Collection Fall / Winter 2013) in 2014 to the Golden Globes. At that time she took away with her the statuette for her leading role in the film Blue Jasmin. This year she accessorised the dress with different jewellery by Chopard. The actress justified her fashion statement by caring approach to fashion and the planet as such. In her opinion it is ridiculous when a dress is only used once. And I have to APPAUD her for this view!

The actress of Danish origin wore to the ceremony a dress by popular Zuhair Murad. This magnificent gown was accompanied by Lorraine Schwartz earrings and shoes by Nicholas Kirkwood. She looked so good that she confirmed the lasting trend of semi-sheer gowns. The pattern of the dress reminded me a little of frosted windows in winter months. And what could be better inspiration than Mother Nature?

American actress Sevigny arrived at the red carpet in a weird dress, like that of Kristen Stewart, from the collection of Chanel for Autumn/Winter 2018. Yes, it is clear to me that by this the actresses wanted to draw attention to French fashion; however, these dresses are dreadful. It looks as if fanfold paper was put together with a kind of silver coating of a space satellite. To sum it up - a flop of the evening.

The voluminous gown from Valentino autumn collection was presented by Amber on the red carpet with a flair (she is probably looking for a second Depp in Cannes). It is quite interesting to see the velvety V-neck top paired with a thick satin skirt of flowery print (unfortunately I am not very keen on autumnal shades). And I feel almost sorry for the flat area on the front... Amber sometimes looks as if she was breaching the laws of human body and had her head turned on her back instead.
