Prague does not want for luxurious villa districts. Each is charming and captivating in its own special way. This is no different in the case of Bertramka, known as the “green part” of Prague. And Mozart’s villa with its adjacent park is also called that.

Bertramka - Muzeum W. A. Mozarta a manželů Duškových

A walk here truly is picturesque and taking in the luxurious and wonderfully beautiful buildings is a breath-taking experience. This is a very opulent location in Prague 5.

Villa Bertramka

This is a former classicist homestead dating back to the middle of the 18th century which has been listed as a heritage site since 1964. The museum section commemorates Mozart’s stay in Prague with Mr and Mrs Dušek. The central building in the complex is a residential building with a façade facing into the courtyard. This architecturally sober building opens out onto an adjacent garden boasting 0.56 hectares set at a height above sea level ranging from 217 m to 246 m. You can rest here in the shade of trees which are centuries old, your refuge from the heat being massive linden trees, yews or maples. The garden with its renovated “sala terrena” or in other words an open garden, is however only open to the public on special occasions when concerts are held there.

There is a bust of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in the garden of Villa Bertramka no. 466 at Mozartova ul. 2 Prague 5. Mozart finished his greatest work, the opera Don Giovanni, in the idyllic surroundings of Bertramka in the home of Mr and Mrs Dušek just before its memorable premiere in Prague on 29 October 1787

So, if you are dreamer or a romantic at heart, you may well hear the music of Mozart while walking as the wind gently whispers.

Where does the “Czech Nightingale”, the “Golden Voice from Prague” or the “Sinatra of the East” live?

Bertramka is also home to some other luxurious housing. The Czech singer Karel Gott, who has won countless awards in the “Czech Nightingale” music competition, knows all about that as lives here in the lap of luxury. With a wonderful view of the city, you could almost forget that you in fact live in Prague.

A villa or a luxury apartment to live in

You don’t have to be a celebrity to be able to afford to live in Bertramka. All you have to do is choose one of the maisonette flats in the residential apartments – Rezidence Na Bertramce. If you want a combination of a peaceful life surrounded by greenery and the city centre within easy reach, Rezidence Pod Bertramkou is the obvious choice.

You can just walk through the above-mentioned part of Prague, enjoying it as a tourist. If however you are considering living in Prague, the area around Bertramka is an attractive one and really does have something to offer.
