The Spring-Summer 2017 collection by LV

The Louis Vuitton Creative Director, Nicolas Ghesquière, presented the Louis Vuitton Spring 2017 collection this October at Paris Fashion Week. The fashion show was held on Place Vendôme in the centre of Paris where the future Maison Louis Vuitton shop will stand.

A new Louis Vuitton location in the centre of Paris

The luxury shop will stand not far from the place where the first Louis Vuitton shop was opened in 1854. The building on Place Vendôme has the perfect unique atmosphere which only goes to underline the beauty and luxury of designs by Louis Vuitton.

Presentation of the Spring-Summer 2017 collection

The place where the show took place looked like a classic French salon. Luxury LV designs from the Spring-Summer 2017 collection were presented by Nicolas Ghesquière’s favourite models and a lot of his friends took part in the event. They included Jennifer Connelly, Catherine Deneuve, Roger Federer and Natalia Vodianova. The models at the show included Julie Nobis, Marte Mei van Haaster, Tamy Glauser and in particular Alexandra Micu who opened the show.

Glittering designs

The collection focuses on transparent materials and luxurious glittering fabrics. Black is the predominant colour, complemented by gold. The luxury designs do however also include other earthy colours such as deep green or shades of brown.

Nicolas Ghesquière focused first and foremost on the sophistication of tailoring, this being reflected in his luxury clothing. This is to say that they are not classic designs to be worn to the office, Ghesquière is starting more and more to dabble in experimentation. Asymmetric models, plunging necklines and bare backs - all of this will be found in the coming collection. Short dresses and very narrow types of trousers, just like the other designs, contain features inspired by the 80s, typical for which are all things glittering and shiny, but the collection does also include elegant and imaginative luxurious long dresses.
