The development of underwear as viewed through the eyes of Aubade

The Aubade brand went through all of the fashion stages from the 1950’s to the present. It was founded in 1958 when knickers and garter belts became essential features of women’s underwear. At this time, the company started to write the first chapter of its story of luxury by offering sensual and glamorous products and thereby lingerie became a real weapon of seduction.

During the 1960’s it was the only brand that offered both coloured bras and underwear. Luxury lingerie sets were created that reflected both the fashion trends and the different seasons. The company’s first communication campaigns were provocative, clever, elegant and good fun.

In the 1970’s the brand came-up both with removable straps and with front fastening and then, in the1980’s the first sexy luxury thong saw the light of day. The ads became black and white compositions and also began to feature men.

The 1990’s were a new peak for the brand. It launched its first lesson in seduction and began to create its first luxurious calendars of black and white photographs.

The turn of the century saw the rapid development of new technologies and of both industrial and fashion innovation. Aubade encouraged women to love their own bodies and beaches. With this encouragement came the first luxury swimwear collections that have now been available in boutiques since 2006.
