The introduction of the collection took place at a luxury hotel Paris Salomon De Rothschild in neo-classic style. And this was not just an ordinary Haute Couture collection. Look at the extravagance, full of wild colours, feathers and non-traditional textures!

Pierpaolo Piccioli introduces into Haute Couture a new idea - what about trousers?!

The Valentino Haute Couture SS 2018 show made a kind of hesitant impression at the outset. Skinny trousers, long overcoats, blouses with maxi bows, giant hats with feathers - a very non-traditional concept of Haute Couture. Creative Director of Valentino, Pierpaolo Piccioli, chose a non-traditional path, freeing his fantasy and with his new collection introduced a new idea: What about trousers?

On the catwalk also appeared Kaia Gerber, who presented a very controversial model

Pierpaolo Piccioli did not stick to any pre-determined shades. The luxurious fashion show opened by presentation of a variety of models of bold colours and cuts including shades such as green, purple, nude, fuchsia, yellow, red and black. On the catwalk appeared the more and more sought-after Kaia Gerber, daughter of Cindy Crawford whom the designer dressed in fuchsia-coloured piece with an extravagant head accessory. These controversial add-ons of luxurious feathers have been worn by other models, too.

The luxury brand created models for lovers of classic styles, too

However, not all Valentino Haute Couture models are just an extravagant wilderness. The designer thought also of lovers of traditional styles and created pieces that are simple, elegant and likeable at first glance.

Thumbs up deserves a brown dress with a satin ribbon around the waist or the black dress without shoulder straps, made of luxury tulle and covered by a layer of silken drops, achieved by a very sophisticated, special hand technique of talented dressmakers.

The original move of the creative director: the models were re-named after the people who created them

While last year Pierpaolo Piccioli named the dresses after Greek and Roman goddesses, this year he decided to pay homage to those who stand behind their creation. The models thus bear the names of real people who made them.

Finally, a proper Haute Couture is here!

Everyone kind of held back, only Valentino gave it a full blast! With some surprise, I have to say that even in the plethora of "nonsense" I think I have easily come to my own here.

I like very much the cream-coloured trousers with higher waistband and bow belt, in combination with the completely non-traditional oriental-red frilled blouse. It is so brave and yet cutting-edge stylish. I know that not many women would be brave enough, but why not put this on for a business meeting, or simply to work? Believe that thanks to these clothes your day will head in a completely different direction.

And the best I kept for the last. I know you will think that I am crazy, but have absolutely fallen in love with the turquoise green coat! It reminds me a bit of the costumes from the French film The Married Couple of the Year Two (1971), where the actresses Marlène Jobert and Laura Antonelli showcase similar jackets from the middle of the 18th century. A peek at a thigh covered with transparent black lace encourages fantasy to the utmost... And that is what I enjoy. Those floating feathers in the face of course play their role - nothing is more alluring than to be the mysterious one (in this case even without make-up)!
