What used to be a Žižkov freight station is now one of the most important brownfields (unused site) in the wider centre of Prague. The city's goal is to create here a modern city district with apartments, shops, a school and parks. That requires a change in the zoning plan, which currently doesn't allow construction in the area. The Institute of Planning and Development of the Capital The City of Prague (IPR) had therefore prepared a study that was presented yesterday at the Center for Architecture and Urban Planning (CAMP), along with a change in the zoning plan. The IPR process counts with the involvement of local residents, who can comment on the study until the end of March.

The Žižkov freight station, which is currently unused, will be transformed into a residential area with parks. The area of the former railway station alone will offer housing for up to 15,000 inhabitants. In order for the construction to begin, it is necessary to make a change in the zoning plan, which has been acquired since 2009. It is currently in the phase of public discussion and until February 23, everyone can submit their comments on it. The planned development of the area also includes the repair and reconstruction of the listed functionalist building of the Žižkov railway station.

The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Andrej Babiš visited Serbia on Wednesday, February 10. He discussed the progress of vaccination against Covid-19 with Prime Minister Anna Brnabić and President Aleksandar Vučić in Belgrade. The Czech Prime Minister was accompanied by an expert team of doctors, epidemiologists and virologists on his business trip. The main topics discussed during the visit were the current epidemiological situation and the exchange of experiences with the vaccination process, the approach to combating the spread of covid-19 and the individual vaccines used by Serbia.

"We have visited Serbia for one reason, namely the fact that where vaccination is concerned, it is the second-best country in Europe, right after the UK, and the seventh-best in the world. That's why we were interested in how the vaccination is organized over there, how registration works. One interesting discovery we have made is that the citizens can choose their vaccine,"

said Prime Minister Babiš. Serbia has already vaccinated over half a million people, with 30,000 to 53,000 people being vaccinated daily in the country. In addition to Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines, Serbia has ordered 4 million Sinopharm vaccines from China, which come with a syringe and needle, and 2 million Sputnik V vaccines from Russia.
