The Wallenstein Palace belongs among the most important early-baroque constructions in Prague and unquestionably among the most luxurious places in the city centre you may visit. The Wallenstein Garden can be found in the complex of the palace, in the district of Malá Strana, the seat of the Senate.
In the Waldstein garden you will see beauty face to face
When you enter this luxurious garden for the first time, it will astonish you by its grace. However, you will feel fascinated every time you visit this beautiful baroque park. It breathes peace and harmony. In May it is the Japanese cherry that shows off its blossoms; in the summer the sun is reflected in the water surface of the well-maintained colourful fish pond. Amid this artificially created pool is an island with a statue of unconquered Hercules.
Who is it, looking at you from under the shrub? This is a white peacock, since that is his favourite spot. He observes visitors of the garden from his hiding place and if you are lucky, he will show himself to you in his entire glory, arranging his snowy-white quills into a fan. I have personally not had that luck yet, but I believe it will come. In addition, there is also the common peacock, promenading freely.
Clean harmony of nature and fine arts
No luxury park can possible do without manicured paths, lawns, carefully planted flowers, water fountains and sculptures. And the Wallenstein Garden of course is a showcase example. In the second part of the garden, the bigger one, presents you with all such beauty attributes. The luxurious marble fountain with a statue of Amor and Venus and other impressive fountains and sculptures in the garden were made by sculptor Adriaen de Vries. Sit down on the bench for a bit and enjoy the beauty all round - if you come here early in the morning - it will belong only to you!
