Polo originated in Persia 2,000 years ago, but was popularised by the British who brought the game to Europe. Two teams of four players compete in the game, using polo sticks to knock the ball into their opponents’ goal on horseback. A tradition you won’t miss out on as the spectators is “divot stomping” to flatten out the field churned up by the horses’ hooves.
Four teams with a handicap of +2 will be competing for the cup this year. The players are amateur enthusiasts and professionals from Europe and beyond.
The pageant that is the grand final will be held on Sunday 18 June starting at 12:00 noon. It will start with a welcoming ceremony which representatives of the Dutch Embassy will be participating in as this year’s championships are being held under the auspices of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. There will be an awards ceremony and also a prize for the best-dressed lady of the day.
This luxurious day will include unique catering and the opportunity to try playing polo on a wooden horse. One of the largest luxury car dealers in Germany Thomas Exclusive Cars will be offering test drives in new models of Rolls-Royce and Aston Martin on site.
Don’t miss this luxury event which you can only experience once a year!
