Czech-Slovak Ball: Eva Pilarová will not perform for health reasons, but there will be no shortage of excellent singers!
In three short weeks, ball enthusiasts will meet at the Prague Municipal House to enjoy the highest level of entertainment: the Czech-Slovak Ball, which will be held for the seventh time this year. However, the organizers had to solve an unexpected issue. Unfortunately, singer Eva Pilarová won't be able to perform due to persistent health problems, which means a replacement had to be found...
In October last year, the singer underwent a severe kidney surgery and her health hasn't allowed her to perform so far. The doctors put Pilarová on bed rest, because even though she may feel like singing, her body needs to relax.
"Unfortunately, Eva Pilarová will not perform at this year's Czech-Slovak Ball due to persistent health problems. We wish Mrs. Pilarová a speedy recovery,"
the management of the ball wished the singer.
Following the release of this information, the name of the new star, who was added to the program, has been announced:
"Winner of a Czechoslovak music competition with a beautiful voice, Tereza Mašková, will perform at the Czech-Slovak Ball 2020. In her rendition, you can look forward to a homage to Věra Špinarová - the famous song Once Upon a Time in the West, among other hits,"
the organizers informed on the official social networks of the ball.
But that's not all. Furthermore, another musical surprise was declassified, namely a special tribute to one of the most beloved legends in the history of Czech music, Karel Duchoň, in the form of the group Duchoňovci. Their performance will be a tribute to his 70th birthday, which he didn't live to see.
You can also look forward to performances by Richard Müller, Emma Drobná, Leona Machálková, Martin Chodúr and others.
Homage to the Zlín and Trenčín regions
For the fifth consecutive year, representatives of a certain region, both on the Czech and Slovak side, will be given their own space within the program. This year, the Zlín and Trenčín regions have been selected. Thanks to that, visitors of the ball will also be able to enjoy concerts by artists from the aforementioned regions, folklore performances of folk groups and dulcimer bands from both countries and taste regional culinary, wine and other specialties.
On behalf of the Trenčín region, tribute will be payed to a famous native, general Milan Rastislav Štefánik, and on behalf of the Zlín region to the painter and engraver Max Švabinský. His mural Czech Spring even decorates one of the opulent rooms of the Municipal House, the Rieger Hall.
