Another comic based movie is in cinemas. It is obvious that Marvel knows its craft and DC is still losing the struggle for the audience throne and critics. Venom from Sony is rescued only with the excellent performance of the actor Thomas Hardy, otherwise the story is without a vision.

Sony film studio holds from Marvel rights to Spider- Man and characters from his world. That's why it's no wonder it wants to make some money on the world's popularity of comic movies. A separate film was created about the favourite villain – Venom, a space symbiont that gets into the body of investigative journalist Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy). Eddie Brock spies on a crazy scientific visionary Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed), who longs for symbionts joining humans and is willing to go over dead bodies. He almost succeeds when he fires Eddie who loses his fiancé (Michelle Williams).

The inner conversation wins over horror

Here starts the story of Venom, an extra-terrestrial parasite that gives Eddie superpowers. Hardy excels with his acting performance, either as delirious Eddie or Venom, where his genial voice excels. The internal conversation between Eddie and Venom often makes the audience laugh, but in a good way. Unfortunately, this does not make a comic book. The director Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) did not make the best of this double role interconnection; instead, there are horror sections in the film. Absurd Carlton Drake dialogues make him look stupid and the viewer feels no respect towards him.

Stay till the end

If you buy a ticket, it may happen that you leave the cinema during the movie. The braver ones who stay till the end of the story will surely say that what they want to see next is Marvel's comic. Every year, Marvel brings to the cinemas three comic movies that can always reach a wide range of comic fans. First they make the comedy Thor: Ragnarok, then the drama Avengers: Infinity War and then the thriller Captain America: The Return of the First Avenger. Venom is just about joining many genres, resulting in a luxurious mockery.

The film is inspired by a great comic book "Lethal Protector", with six symbionts – Venom, Riot, Phage, Agony, Lasher and Scream. Only three of them made it do the film – Venom, Riot and a yellow symbiont that is never named, but according to the comics it could be Scream. The film was originally scheduled to be released in 2012 or 2013, but the director Josh Trank prioritized the movie Fantastic Four (2015). Venom was filmed from 23 October 2017 to 26 January 2018 in Atlanta and New York. It was released in Czech cinemas on October 5, 2018.

- Actress Michelle Williams confessed that she played in Venom just for Tom Hardy and the money

- The scene where Annie (Michelle Williams) takes over the symbiont Venom and rescues Eddie (Tom Hardy) is a reference to the original intention of the creators of the character, Venom was originally meant to be a woman.

- The motorbike that Eddie (Tom Hardy) drives in the film is a slightly modified Ducati Scrambler.

- Tom Hardy admitted signing contracts for 3 films about Venom.

- The creators promised fans that Venom will follow in the footsteps of the successful comic adaptations Deadpoll (2016) and Logan (2017) and will be adults only. However, they have dropped these plans and the official rating is PG-13.

- It's the second comic book in which Tom Hardy stars in. The first was The Dark Knight Rises (2012).

- Venom first appeared as a black cloud in the comic book "The Secret Wars of the Marvel Superheroes" from 1984. The figure of Venom as we know it appeared for the first time in April 1988 in the comic book "The Amazing Spider- Man # 299 "as a cameo. The full-fledged character's performance in a comic strip came a month later in the comic book "The Amazing Spider- Man # 300". - Venom first appeared in the movie Spider- Man 3 (2007).

- Sony considered Finn Wittrock for the role of Venom and Alan Tudyk as Carnage. In addition, Walton Gogins, Cameron Monghan and Jim Carrey were also considered.
