You probably don’t realise how many places have hot water springs. You can forget about renowned seaside resorts. Set out to enjoy some adrenaline-fuelled adventure and reward yourself with some deluxe relaxation in a hot spring afterwards. And you’ll still be able to experience beautiful exotic nature, volcanoes and even sand.

Iceland – a kingdom of thermal springs

Although Iceland is considered a frozen country full of snow and ice, it also has volcanoes and hot springs. The most famous deluxe thermal water lagoon suitable for bathing is the Blue Lagoon. It is located on the Reykjanes peninsula. It is a poplar destination and entry costs around CZK 1,000 per person, but don’t be discouraged, it really is worth it!

Another tip for an unforgettable experience is the small cave called Grjotagja not far from the town of Mývatn, where water of an unbelievable 43°C rises from a thermal spring.

Japan, Beppu – spring-water with the colour of blood

You can enjoy an unusual experience in Japan on the island of Kyushu in the town of Beppu. The Blood Pond hot spring has an unusual colour reminiscent of blood. The “hellish” red colour of the water is caused by its rich iron content. But you will only be able to warm yourself in the steam here, because the water reaches a temperature of 78°C.

New Zealand – relax in the warmth in the Hot pools at Coromandel

New Zealand boasts many beautiful volcanoes. It is located on a boundary between tectonic plates, which causes power earthquakes, but also has benefits in the form of natural hot water springs.

You can find a beach with hot water on the east coast of Coromandel Island. A travel magazine rated this one of the ten best beaches on the planet. It is surrounded by a volcanic landscape and if you bring a spade with you, you can create your own pool. But you have to be quick, the hot-water “pools” are only accessible for two hours at low tide.
